From Midwifery Training to the University Clinic – a small exhibition at the Knowledge Centre

In connection with the exhibition titled “From Midwifery Training to the University Clinic”, which is open at the Department of Historical Collections of the University of Pécs Library and Knowledge Centre of the, we welcome visitors with a new curated selection. The displayed documents, books, and artefacts offer insight into several decades of obstetric and gynaecological care in Pécs.

The exhibition material presents the circumstances of the establishment and relocation of the clinic to Pécs, as well as the everyday practice of education and patient care. Visitors can learn about the defining leadership and rectorial work of Elemér Scipiades, and gain insight into obstetric practice and medical education at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The selection pays tribute to all educators, midwives, and physicians whose professional dedication contributed to the development of the institution and to the strengthening of the traditions of medical education in Pécs.

The exhibition is open until 31 August 2026.
