The History of the University of Pécs – which is under the care of the Historical Collection Department of the Central Library – is the collection of various historical objects, documents and photographic material relating to the University of Pécs and the institutions of its legal predecessor. The department’s task is the collection, preservation and processing of these materials, ensuring their availability and growth. The time frame of the collection dates from the end of the 19th century to the present day. The history collection includes many curiosities that are rather unique in Hungarian museum collections.
Nowadays, it is important for a museum collection to be available to the public online as well, because this way the collection becomes known not only locally but also nationally. The collection is constantly expanding.
The following collections are available in the database:
1. Original, archival photo collection
2. Repository photo collection (photocopies)
3. Collection of historical objects (goblets, clothing, other objects, etc.)
4. Numismatic collection (medals, plaques, awards, badges, etc.)
5. Document collection (paper and digital documents)
6. Postcard collection (separate, highlighted part of the document collection, Reuter postcards)
7. Mechanical and technical history collection (tools, equipment)
