Open Access publishing

Options for Open Access Publishing

There are two types of funding available and described on our website:

I. 2024 Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation - University of Pécs Open Access Fund

II. Read and Publish Consortium Open Access Agreements powered by the Electronic Information Service National Programme and Read and Publish contract with Karger: funding can be requested in an automated manner and applied to journals included in the contract.

+1. Membership agreement with MDPI entitles our university’s authors to a 10% discount. The corresponding author is responsible for paying the invoice.

I. 2024 Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation – University of Pécs Open Access Fund

-Applies to journals that are not included in Funding Form „II.” and meet the criteria described by the 2024 contract between the Founding Body and the University.

-Invoice-based funding.

The contract between the Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation and the University provides for the possibility of covering the open access publishing costs of publications. These publications must have a DOI and must be accepted for publication as of 01 January 2024. Funding is available until the budget is exhausted.

Application deadline: 15 December 2024.

Eligible publications:

- are accepted for publication as of 01 January 2024 (hybrid or open access journal accepted, early view, published status) with DOI identifier(s) that:

- are listed in the Scopus and/or Web of Science databases;

- have been published in at least an SJR Q2 rated journal according to the Scimago Journal Ranking;

- have a first, last or corresponding author affiliated with the University of Pécs or the author is a PhD student at our university;

- the corresponding author of the publication has been correctly affiliated with our university (University of Pécs, Hungary) and one of its departments in the manuscript.

The form to fill in to apply for open access funding is available at the following link: https://go.tkp.hu/oa-urlap

The form can be filled in after logging into your university Microsoft 365 account (EHA/Neptun code and associated password).

You can find the required information to issue the invoice at: https://adminisztracio.pte.hu/az_egyetem_adatai

The grant cannot be used to cover publication fees for publications in journals included in the EIS consortium agreement (see the Read and Publish Consortium Open Access Agreements section) or to repay an open access article previously funded by the grant.

II. Read and Publish Consortium Open Access Agreements

The University of Pécs has signed Read and Publish contracts with the American Chemical Society, Akadémiai Kiadó, Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, SpringerNature, Taylor & Francis and Wiley through the National Electronic Information Service Program (Hungarian abbreviation: EISZ) national consortium. The read-and-publish nature of the contracts allows full-text access to traditionally subscribed content and the publication of open access articles. The APC costs of open access articles by PTE authors are covered by the consortium contract, under the conditions set out below. Open access agreements do not cover costs other than the article processing charge (APC).

The University Library and Knowledge Centre supports the publication of Open Access articles if the following conditions are met:

- The corresponding author of the publication must be an employee of the University of Pécs or a student of the university. Employee status is verified by the employee database; PhD students must submit a valid student status certificate to oapublishing@lib.pte.hu.

- The corresponding authors must provide institutional affiliation with the University of Pécs when submitting their manuscript.

- Authors who wish to apply must affiliated with the University of Pécs in the Hungarian Science Bibliography (Hungarian abbreviation: MTMT).

Additional conditions:

- The contracts only exempt authors from paying APC fees, and do not cover other publication fees (such as page charges, colour printing fees, submission fees, or other publication or editorial fees).

The eligibility of the authors for institutional support is checked by publishers using the following (automated) methods:

- identification of the institutional e-mail address (.pte.hu)

- identification of institutional affiliation

- identification of the institutional IP domain
