Working Group


The University of Pécs has a clear goal to make its scientific and educational activities visible to the scientific community and prospective students. We would like this to be reflected in international rankings. In line with this conscious effort, the university management established the Ranking Working Group. 

The working group is led by Dr Dániel Kehl, assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and a university ranking expert. He is assisted in his work by staff members of the University Library and the Rector's Office.



The tasks of the working group:


  1. The background work processes are less visible to teachers. By carrying out these tasks, we strive to strengthen and improve the University's position in international rankings. Our tasks include:
    • - We monitor the methodology of international rankings, changes, and the results of UP,
    • - We maintain contact with representatives of ranking companies, to whom we provide data as needed,
    • - We continuously monitor and cleanse PTE data in the Scopus and Web of Science bibliographic databases, which provide data for international rankings. 

  2. The other half of our work involves supporting the publication activities of our faculty members. Our goal is to assist faculty members with the administrative tasks associated with publishing, which can greatly contribute to improving individual and institutional performance indicators. Within this framework, we:
    • - We prepare guidelines and write teaching materials for our instructors on how they can improve the visibility of their scientific results: how to select the most relevant journals for their publications, how to maintain their author records in Scopus and Web of Science, and how to benefit from using author identifiers.
    • - We operate the University Journal Platform for university journals and inform editorial offices about the conditions under which a given journal can be included in international indexing databases (Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, EBSCO).
    • - Within the framework of our contracts with international publishers, we ensure open access publishing and provide information on open access publishing.
    • - We inform the faculty members about the latest trends in scientific communication (research data management) and offer individual and group consultations.
